Soil Testing

It is now the season to plan ahead for the 2026 Gardens surrounding Your Home.  One way to be ready for the Spring Fertilizer Program is to obtain a Soil Test this Fall.  Fertilizer is not cheap so it is imperative that You acquire Fertilizer that Your Soil actually needs versus buying a general formula.

You can obtain Soil Sample Bags from Your local County Extension Office.

Directions are on the reverse of this bag on how to obtain an appropriate sample!!

Once You have filled the Sample Bag complete this form for each sample and return to the Extension Office:

You will note that Soil Samples are appropriate for Home Lawns, Home Landscape Plants, Golf Courses, Home Fruit and Vegetable Gardens as well as Wildlife Plots for the Hunters in Your respective Families.

In addition to completing this form each Sample requires an $8.00 Fee to Pay for the Processing of Your Sample at the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.  The staff at the Bibb County Extension Office informed me that Cash/Check/Charge are accepted.  It may be different in Your Respective County.  Please note that the form shown above is the one the Bibb County Office gave to me.

Planning ahead is always appropriate and getting this Soil Test just may save you funds when you acquire only what Your Soil Needs.  From My Own Point Of View this will allow Me to acquire more flowering plants.
