The Pearl Fryar

Topiary Garden

 

It all began in 2010 when My Bride volunteered to be the Page for Pearl Fryar's Program at the National Garden Club Convention which was held in Atlanta, Georgia.  We met Pearl and His Wife and set up the stage for the program.

The program was concluded after he took out several branches on this small tree.



 The Convention was held in May of 2010.  Pearl's Program was presented on the 15th.

On 3 May 2017 My Bride and I took the opportunity to visit Pearl Fryar's Topiary Garden in Bishopville, SC.  The following series of 52 pictures displays his work which he commenced in 1983 to be awarded the "Yard of the Month."  Pearl achieved his goal in 1985.

Pearl Fryar maintains this garden without the aid of an irrigation system or fertilizer.  He has also constructed the various works of garden art that are displayed.
